The towering skyscrapers of that city struck him as a veritable wonderland, and he felt like a financial Gulliver encountering a strange and incredible world. Among the many things he saw overseas, the efficiency of the Post & Flagg (a registered company of the New York Stock Exchange) organization and the power of their research division left an impression that he would remember all his life. He was already a firm believer in the importance of research, but his beliefs were confirmed when he saw Post & Flagg's extensive research department, whose accurate market statistics were used even by the U.S. Treasury Department. He was reminded once again of the vital importance of research and determined that he, too, would one day have as effective a research department at his disposal.
Tokushichi had one great disappointment in America. His hopes of meeting the legendary financier James Pierpont Morgan went unfulfilled.
