Private Equity Funds Research and Investments Co., Ltd. (PEFR&I) is a joint venture between Nomura Holdings, Inc., The Norinchukin Bank Group, and the Development Bank of Japan. Established in February 2008, PEFR&I is able to tap the respective expertise of these three companies and use its advanced analytical skills, product origination capabilities, and data gathering capacity together with broad-based marketing experience to evaluate and analyze private equity funds and offer clients investment advisory and discretionary investment management services. The firm is building up a strong global network with offices in New York and London and plans to open another office in Singapore. The main focus of PEFR&I's operations is providing advisory services such as the sourcing, due diligence, and monitoring of investment management firms. By strengthening its fund sourcing in Europe, the US, Japan, the rest of Asia, and other regions, PEFR&I also aims to be a fund of private equity funds investment management firm. Looking ahead into the long term, PEFR&I will build a business model that allows it to source its own deals and offer original evaluation and analysis as well as investment management methods to differentiate itself from competitors. A major focus will be product design that makes full use of the firm's competitive advantage of being based in Asia. The organization structure of the firm will ensure an integrated approach by bringing together the evaluation and analysis teams, the investment management teams, marketing, and middle and back office functions. |
