Nomura Hires Stefan Lumiere As Head of Special Situations Research

New York, May 10, 2006-Nomura Securities International, Inc. (NSI) announced today that Stefan Lumiere has joined the firm as Director and Head of Special Situations Research. Mr. Lumiere is based in New York City and will report to Robert Brown, Managing Director and Head of US Equity Research. At NSI, Mr. Lumiere is responsible for research, which focuses on merger arbitrage, corporate restructurings, bankruptcy reorganizations, capital structure arbitrage, turnarounds and other event-driven strategies.

Commenting on the hire, Mr. Brown said "Stefan is an excellent addition to our expanding US research platform, as well as our global research franchise. His work is well respected by investors and we are confident he will make an important contribution to our US equity customer business."

Mr. Lumiere joins NSI from Oscar Gruss, where most recently, he was their Head of the Special Situations Group. Prior to Oscar Gruss, Mr. Lumiere was a Portfolio Manager/Senior Analyst on the Goldman Sachs/SLK Proprietary Desk, where he Co-Managed the Special Situations/Fundamental Trading portfolio.

Mr. Lumiere holds an International MBA degree from INCAE, a B.A. degree from Tulane University, as well as the CFA charter.
