Nomura Announces George Goncalves to Head US Interest Rates Strategy in the Americas

New York, February 2, 2010 – Nomura Securities International is pleased to announce that George Goncalves has joined the Fixed Income Research department as a Managing Director and Head of US interest rates strategy in the Americas.

Mr. Goncalves will be responsible for the development of a US rates strategy team and US Interest Rates research product offerings for Nomura's clients and trading desks. Mr. Goncalves will report to Michael Guarnieri, the Global Head of Fixed Income Research. "As we continue to build out our research platform in the Americas, George will play a vital role in our offering. His background and expertise will enable to us to immediately add value to our rates clients" said Mr Guarnieri. The addition of George to cover US rates rounds out Nomura's global rates team which includes Nick Firoozye in London, Desmond Supple in Singapore and Naka Matsuzawa in Tokyo.

Mr. Goncalves' diverse bond market and strategy experience will further strengthen Nomura's US Rates business and will add to the macro discussion from the US perspective. Prior to joining NSI, George held similar fixed income research positions at Morgan Stanley, Banc of America Securities and most recently was Head of Cantor Fitzgerald's Rates Strategy team. Before becoming a strategist, Mr. Goncalves was an assistant fixed income portfolio manager with Merrill Lynch Asset Management, where he focused on the front-end of the curve and money market products. In 2007, Mr. Goncalves was voted one of the top twenty rising fixed income professionals worldwide in the inaugural "Rising Stars" Survey by Institutional Investor Magazine.
