Nomura Singapore appoints Michael Lim as Chairman/Director

Singapore/Hong Kong, 29 June, 2006-Nomura announced today the appointment of Michael Lim Choo San as Non-Executive Chairman/Director and Executive Committee member of Nomura Singapore Limited, and Independent Member of the Nomura Asia Holding N.V. Audit Committee, effective July 1, 2006.

Mr. Lim joined Nomura Singapore on September 1, 2005, as a Senior Advisor. Since joining, Mr. Lim has shown a strong commitment to Nomura and has leveraged his extensive experience in the public and private sectors to create synergies in Nomura's businesses in Singapore and across Asia.

Koki Miura, President & CEO of Nomura Singapore, commented on the appointments, "Mr. Lim's contributions to Nomura Group are highly valued and we are very pleased to have him work with us in his new capacity to build up the Nomura name in Asia."

Mr. Lim currently serves as Chairman of the Land Transport Authority of Singapore, Chairman of the National Healthcare Group Pte Ltd, Member of the Public Service Commission, and Trustee of the Nanyang Technological University. He is also an Independent Director of Olam International Limited. On June 1, 2006, Mr. Lim was appointed a Director of PSA International Pte Ltd.

Mr. Lim started his career in Singapore with Price Waterhouse in 1972 and retired from PricewaterhouseCoopers as Executive Chairman at the end of 2003. He was awarded the Public Service Medal in 1998 and the Public Service Star in 2003 for his contributions to the public sector.

Nomura has been in Singapore since 1972. Nomura Singapore's operations cover a broad range of areas including securities and futures brokerage, research, fixed income, investment banking, and private client and trust services.
