Nomura Appoints John Keith as Deputy Managing Director of
Nomura Australia

Sydney, March 1, 2007 – Nomura today announced the appointment of John Keith as Deputy Managing Director, Nomura Australia Limited (NAL). Mr. Keith was previously Regional Head of Financial Solutions, Fixed Income Division, based in Hong Kong, where he headed the firm’s Debt Capital Markets business in the Asia Pacific region.

In his new role, Mr. Keith will be responsible for managing NAL's overall daily business, developing and executing of strategy. He will report to Hiroyuki Nishikawa, Managing Director of NAL.

In making this announcement, Mr. Nishikawa commented, "John's appointment is meaningful in terms of the ongoing development of Nomura Australia's business. We have been working together in the rebuilding and growth of Nomura's regional fixed income businesses in Asia since 2000. It is timely to now place more focus on the considerable opportunities opening up for Nomura in Australia and New Zealand."

John Keith joined Nomura in 1994, starting in its Sydney office. He moved to Hong Kong in 1999 as Regional Head of Debt Capital Markets. While in this role, Mr. Keith was responsible for working with clients in developing funding and derivative solutions. Executed transactions include inaugural ABS and other structured finance transactions in the Philippines, Korea and Malaysia, sovereign and agency transactions from China, Thailand and Korea and various capital and senior benchmark offerings from Australia.
