Nomura Appoints New Co-Head of Asia Equity Capital Markets

Hong Kong, July 3, 2007 – Nomura announced today that it has appointed Philippe Espinasse as Co-Head of Asia Equity Capital Markets ("ECM") in the Asia Investment Banking Division, based at Nomura's Asia headquarters in Hong Kong.

Mr. Espinasse was previously Head of Asia ECM at Macquarie Securities in Hong Kong, where he was responsible for the origination and execution of equity and equity-linked transactions in the region. Prior to working at Macquarie Securities, he spent more than eleven years with UBS (initially joining S.G.Warburg) in various Debt and Equity Capital Markets positions in Europe, and as Head of Equity Corporate Finance for Asia.

Mr. Espinasse will work alongside Mr. Tokihiko Kusano, Co-Head of Asia Equity Capital Markets to originate and execute transactions, and develop Nomura's ECM market share throughout Asia. Mr. Espinasse will report to Mr. Minoru Shinohara, Head of the Asia Investment Banking Division.

Nomura's Asia investment banking team provides services in the origination, structuring, syndication, marketing and placement of Asian equities for corporate, institutional, and government clients. It also offers a full range of corporate finance services including execution and transaction advisory, equity fund raising and corporate broking.
