Nomura Strengthens Technology Research Team with Key Appointment

Hong Kong, February 24, 2010 – Nomura, the global investment bank, today announced the appointment of Kirk Yang as Head of Regional Technology Hardware Research, as it continues to build its research franchise.

Nomura's Head of Equity and Fixed Income Research for Asia ex-Japan, Hua He, commented on the new appointment, "Kirk brings extensive industry experience and will make a significant contribution to our team as we continue to strengthen our offering to clients. Mr Yang joins as a Managing Director and will be responsible for coordinating and developing downstream technology research in the region, based in Hong Kong. He was previously with a leading private China IT software company and Ta Yang Group, a HK-listed technology company, serving as Chief Financial Officer at both firms. Prior to that, Mr Yang held positions as Head of Asia Technology Research at Citi, Head of Asia Hardware and Components Research at Credit Suisse and technology research analyst at Goldman Sachs and BNP Paribas.

Mr Yang's expertise has been recognised through a number of industry accolades, including top rankings in the Institutional Investor poll. Between 2001 and 2008, he was consistently ranked in the top two to three in the Institutional Investor All-Asia Research Team Tech Hardware sector, claiming the number one ranking in 2004. The Greenwich Survey ranked Mr Yang number one in 2002 and 2008 and he has also been awarded honors from Asiamoney, FinanceAsia and StarMine.
