Nomura Hires Michael Kurtz as Chief Asia Equity Strategist

Hong Kong, October 28, 2011 – Nomura, the global investment bank, has appointed Michael Kurtz as Chief Asia Equity Strategist, based in Hong Kong. He joins as a Managing Director and will work closely with the firm's economists, country strategists and sector heads to publish regional Asia equity strategy as well as Nomura's Conviction List reports.

"With over 15 years experience in the industry, and ten of those years working on equity strategy in Asia, he is well placed to provide clients with key strategy ideas and direction for their investment portfolios."

He will lead Nomura's No.3 ranked Equity Strategy team in Institutional Investor's 2011 All-Asia Research Team survey.

Michael was previously Macquarie Securities' Asian regional equity strategist. Prior to this, he was the head of Asian equity research, and Asian equity strategist and economist at Bear Stearns. Michael also worked at IDEAglobal in New York as an Asian FX strategist and at Polyconomics as an emerging markets analyst. He graduated from George Washington University with a MA in International Relations and a MBA in International Business/Finance.
