Nomura Makes Further Senior Hires In Emerging Markets and Asian Equity Sales

London, 19 September 2006 - Nomura International plc today announced six new hires to its London based Global Emerging Markets operations. Nomura has appointed three specialists in Emerging Markets and Asian Equity Sales, reporting to Philip Staveley, Head of the Emerging Markets and Asian Cash Sales Team and two Emerging Markets and Asian Sales Traders, reporting to John Milgate, Head of Sales Trading. In addition, Nomura has hired an Emerging Markets Strategist as part of the Equity Research Department, reporting to Shuichi Tamai, Head of Equity Research. Nomura has been steadily increasing its Global Emerging Markets capacity, building a team of research, sales and trading specialists since Philip Staveley joined in September 2005.

Bruce Ingram joined in August as Senior Salesperson for Asian Equity Sales. Bruce has 12 years equity sales experience and joined Nomura from Credit Suisse where he had been Director, Asia non-Japan Equity Sales. Previously, Bruce worked as a Generalist Asian non Japan Equity Salesperson at ING Barings in London.

Kendal Law joined Nomura this month as Senior Salesperson for Asian Equity Sales. Kendal has 10 years equity sales experience and joined Nomura from Credit Suisse in Hong Kong, where he was Director, Senior Generalist Sales. Previously Kendal has worked in Hong Kong and London for ING Barings and BZW in both research and sales roles.

Funda Ayhan joined Nomura this month as Emerging Europe Salesperson. Funda has 14 years experience in the equity markets and joined Nomura from Dresdner Kleinwort Wassrstein where she was Director, Emerging Market Sales. Previously, Funda has worked at Govett Asset Management in London as Portfolio Manager, Pan European and Emerging European Equity Funds, ING Barings Securities Limited as Head of Equity Sales for Southern Europe and Middle East and Garanti Investment Bank in Istanbul as Head of Equity Research.

John Try joined Nomura this month as Emerging Markets Sales Trader. John has 17 years equity sales experience and joined Nomura from Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein where he was Director, Head of EMEA Sales-Trading. Previously, John worked at ING Barings, as Director, Sales Trading in Emerging Markets. Prior to that John was a Director at Caspian Securities Ltd.

Stuark Clark joined Nomura this month as Asian Sales Trader. Stuart has 9 years equity sales experience and joins Nomura from ING Barings where he was an Asia ex-Japan Sales Trader.

Shanat Patel joined this month as Global Emerging Markets Equity Analyst. Shanat joined Nomura from Deutsche Bank where he spent four years as a Global Technical Analyst before being made an Equity Proprietary Trader in 2005. Previously Shanat worked at CA-IB as Chief Equity Strategist, at Credit Lyonnais as Emerging Markets Strategist and at Citibank N.A. as Emerging Markets Analyst.
