Nomura Hires Whitney Rockley as Principal of New Energy
& Clean Technology Ventures

London, 14 February 2007 - Nomura International plc today announced the appointment of Whitney Rockley as Principal of New Energy and Clean Technology Ventures. Whitney is moving to Nomura's London headquarters from VP Finance, at TEC Edmonton in Canada where she provided financial oversight, coached early stage technology companies and provided guidance on the establishment of an early-stage technology fund.

In her role as a senior member of Nomura's investment team, she will be applying her extensive knowledge of the North American clean technology venture capital sector, as well as structuring expansion-stage investments and accelerating the growth of portfolio companies.

Prior to TEC Edmonton, Whitney worked at EPCOR, a large power and water company that builds owns and operates a number of power generation, electrical transmission and distribution networks, and water and wastewater treatment facilities throughout North America. As Director, Corporate Venture Capital she started up and managed a venture capital fund through direct and indirect investments in energy and water related ventures. Whitney also led and developed the company's greenhouse gas emission reduction portfolio strategy which included a substantial investment in the world's largest carbon fund.

Before EPCOR, Whitney was Senior Business Developer for Venture Capital at Encana Corporation, a leading North American natural gas and oil sands company. At Encana she made a number of direct and indirect investments in clean technology companies, and was seconded to Nth Power in California where she led and closed investments in clean energy companies. Whitney started her career at the Toronto-Dominion Bank as an Investment Specialist.

Whitney will be joining the team led by Russell Pullan, Director of New Energy & Clean Technology Ventures. New Energy & Clean Technology Ventures is a division of Nomura's merchant banking business in Europe. It was launched in late 2006 with the appointment of Russell Pullan.
