Nomura Strengthens European Leadership with New Appointment in Italy

London & Milan, March 26, 2009 – Nomura, the global investment bank, today announced the appointment of Andrea Pellegrini as co-chairman for Italy and head of investment banking partnering with Alessandro Cremona, chairman of Investment Banking Italy.

Mr. Pellegrini brings a wealth of global experience to Nomura's investment banking operations. He joins Nomura from Merrill Lynch, where he was most recently chairman of the public sector group for Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) and head of investment banking for Italy. Mr. Pellegrini will be based in Rome and assumes full responsibility for investment banking in the country. He will also co-chair the country executive committee with Kazuhisa Kishimoto, President of Nomura Italy.

Prior to his 12 years at Merrill Lynch, Andrea spent five years with Lehman Brothers in New York, London and Milan.
