German corporates meet Japanese investors
Tokyo, November 17, 2006 - Nomura Securities Co., Ltd. hosted its first annual German Investor Conference in Tokyo on Monday and Tuesday, 13 and 14 November 2006. The Conference represented a unique opportunity for German blue chip companies such as BASF AG, Continental AG, DaimlerChrysler AG, Deutsche Börse AG, Deutsche Post AG, SAP AG and Volkswagen AG to directly present to selected Japanese institutional investors. More than 50 Japanese investors attended the Conference, all of them industry leaders such as Asahi Life AM, Daiwa AM, Mitsubishi UFJ AM, Mizuho TB, Sumitomo TB and Nomura AM, discussing the strategies and latest financial results of the presenting German blue chip companies. The Conference was organized by Nomura Bank Deutschland to meet the growing interest of German corporates to expand and diversify their investor base, as well as the demand of Japanese investors looking for more international exposure by internationalising their assets under management. While Japanese investors, institutional and private, have historically mainly invested in fixed income products, there is now a growing trend towards an increasing equity stake due to a fundamental change in the overall savings approach. Key parts of the Conference were one-on-one meetings between companies and investors. These meetings were accompanied by a supporting programme organised by Nomura Bank Deutschland, which focused on German - Japanese business relations and networking events.
