Nomura Holdings, Inc.
Tokyo, March 23, 2026—Nomura Holdings, Inc. (Nomura) is pleased to announce that it has achieved the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title for the "Largest online video chain passing and using a piggy bank/money box."
To mark the company's 100th Anniversary, executives and employees around the world took part in a relay-style video, passing Nomura's One Million Ryo Savings Box across departments and teams. The videos were shared on the company's intranet under the title "Nomura Countdown Video Relay" as part of a 100-day countdown to Nomura's centenary on December 25, 2025.
Nomura first distributed the One Million Ryo Savings Box in the 1950s to help make investing accessible to more people in postwar Japan. More than one million savings boxes were distributed to households across the country.
Founded in 1925 with just 89 employees, Nomura has grown into a global financial services group with around 28,000 people representing approximately 90 nationalities.
The video chain initiative was launched to give employees an opportunity to reflect on the company's history. More than 4,000 people from offices around the world participated and over 1,000 videos were submitted. Of these, 765 videos were connected to form the final video chain that earned Nomura the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title.
Nomura received the official GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ certificate at a ceremony on March 4.
Kentaro Okuda, Nomura's President and Group CEO, said: "We are extremely pleased to have achieved a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title. As we continue to celebrate our 100th Anniversary, I would like to sincerely thank everyone who has supported Nomura over the years. In this video relay, our colleagues passed the One Million Ryo Savings Box from team to team, carrying forward the aspirations of those who came before us, reaffirming our commitment to taking on challenges and growing, and paving a path toward the next 100 years. I am proud of our colleagues around the world who came together to make this initiative a success. Guided by our Purpose — "We aspire to create a better world by harnessing the power of financial markets" — we will continue to pursue sustainable growth and create social value."
