Tokyo, January 29, 2026—Nomura Securities Co., Ltd. (Nomura) has received the FY2025 Osaka City Mayor’s Certificate of Excellence (Large Enterprise) for Leading Companies with Actively Participating Women in Osaka City. This is Nomura’s first time receiving the award.
Launched in October 2014, Osaka City’s certification program recognizes companies and organizations that actively promote women’s participation in the workforce. Companies are evaluated in three areas: creating an environment where ambitious women can succeed, supporting work-life balance, and supporting men’s involvement in childcare, housework and community activities. Each year the mayor presents awards to organizations with particularly outstanding initiatives.
Nomura was recognized for the ongoing work of its Osaka Branch Women’s Empowerment Committee, comprising members from across departments, to address workplace challenges, promote learning, and create an environment where everyone can thrive. Initiatives include the “Nomujob Fair” which showcases diverse ways of working, and Diversity Study Sessions on topics such as LGBTQ+, working caregivers, disabilities, and age diversity.
Nomura was also highly evaluated for its commitment to developing female employees aspiring to managerial and executive roles. Through case-sharing sessions, roundtable discussions, and leadership development initiatives, both interest in senior management positions and the percentage of female managers have increased, resulting in more women being appointed as department heads and executive officers.
In addition, as part of firmwide initiatives to promote parental leave, the Osaka Branch has turned temporary staff shortages due to leave into opportunities for growth. Measures that contributed to the award include facilitating early handovers, supporting employees’ return to work, and streamlining operations.
Nomura believes diversity makes it stronger as an organization, and remains committed to fostering an inclusive environment where all employees can be themselves, work with pride, and maximize their potential.
