Nomura Broadens Americas Equities Product Offering and Adds Key Trading Talent

New York, May 17, 2012 – Nomura, the global investment bank, continues to strengthen its Equities franchise in the Americas with the launch of Delta One and Event-Driven/Special Situations product offerings and the appointment of Tony Hayden as a Managing Director and Head of Delta One, and Jason Osier as a Managing Director and Head of Single Stock Derivatives Trading, reporting to Jonathan Larkin, Head of Trading, Equities Americas.

"We have created a strong culture of taking and managing risk at Nomura, and Jonathan, Jason and Tony enhance our ability to offer liquidity and creative solutions to our clients in US products, including our new event-driven and delta one offerings," said Ciaran OfKelly, Head of Equities, Americas.

"Nomura's presence in the Americas equities markets has grown rapidly, and we are building on that momentum to serve our clients better by expanding our product line and adding trading talent," said Larkin.

Hayden will be responsible for building and managing Nomura's Delta One business in the Americas, an effort that will complement the firm's established Global Delta One franchise. Tony brings more than 20 years of equities trading experience to Nomura, and most recently served as Head of Delta One Trading for North America at JP Morgan.

Osier will lead Nomura's Single Stock Derivatives Trading team for the Americas. He joins from Plural Investments, where he was a Managing Director and Equity Long-Short Portfolio Manager. Prior to joining the buy-side in 2007, Jason served 10 years as a sell-side equities trader, most recently as Head of Single Stock Derivatives Trading for Banc of America Securities.

Both Hayden and Osier will also serve as members of Nomura's newly launched Event-Driven/Special Situations team. This multi-product team will generate trading ideas for clients through rigorous analysis of event-driven and relative value arbitrage opportunities, and provide liquidity for executions of customer orders and spread trades.
