Nomura Expands Wealth Management Business in Asia

Hong Kong, April 16, 2007 – Nomura announced today that it is expanding its wealth management business in Asia and the Middle East to cater to its clients' growing demands for wealth management services and to build a strong team to grow the business further.

Nomura has been operating its wealth management business under the name of "Asia Investment Advisory" for over 30 years and with this expansion it will change its name to "Wealth Management".

The wealth management environment in Asia and the Middle East has evolved rapidly and the needs of affluent clients are becoming more diverse and complex. In recognition of these trends and the huge growth potential in this segment of the financial services industry, Nomura is placing significant focus on, and is committed to investing and expanding, its wealth management capabilities in order to offer a platform of client-centric solutions.

Mr. Kunio Watanabe, Head of Wealth Management Division, commented, "We are very encouraged by the support given by our clients and we are very optimistic about business prospects going forward. Mr. Watanabe moved to Hong Kong from Nomura's Tokyo head office in July 2006 to head up the wealth management business in Asia and the Middle East. His appointment was followed by the recruitment of Mr. Andy Yong as Regional Head of Trustee Services in the Wealth Management Division in February 2007 from Merrill Lynch. Mr. Yong is based in Nomura's Singapore office and supports Mr. Watanabe in the expansion of Nomura's wealth management business across the regions.
