Sydney, May 26, 2010 – Nomura, the global investment bank, today announced the appointment of Mr. James Strong and Mr. Rob Thomas as the first two members of a newly formed Nomura Australia Advisory Board.

Peter Meurer, Chairman of Investment Banking at Nomura Australia, who has responsibility for establishing the Advisory Board, said Mr. Strong and Mr. Thomas would bring invaluable experience to the company and generate further momentum in Nomura's Australian business strategy.

"In the coming months James and Rob will be joined by a number of other distinguished leaders from the corporate sector and financial markets," Mr. Meurer said.

"James is one of Australia's most distinguished and respected businessmen with interests covering a broad cross-section of the Australian business community. His achievement in building the then County NatWest into one of Australia's leading brokers is testimony to his deep understanding of the industry. He continues this work through his chairmanship of the Stockbrokers Association of Australia. Rob is also Chairman of Tower Life and HeartWare and a director of Virgin Blue," Mr. Meurer said.

Mr. Hiroyuki Nishikawa, CEO for Nomura Australia, said: "Nomura is delighted to have Messrs Strong and Thomas agree to join our Advisory Board. Their decision to join our advisory board represents a significant endorsement of our strategy in the Australian market."
