April 3, 2023

Nomura International (Hong Kong) Limited

Hong Kong, April 3, 2023 - Nomura, Asia's global investment bank, today appointed Dr. Rudolf Hitsch as Head of North Asia for its International Wealth Management business.

In this newly created role, Dr. Hitsch will be based in Hong Kong and responsible for International Wealth Management's client relationship management teams covering North Asia. He reports to Ravi Raju, Nomura's Head of International Wealth Management.

"As we build out our International Wealth Management business and grow our capabilities to serve our clients, we are excited to have Rudolf join us to strengthen our presence in North Asia. We continue to attract top talent from the industry as we make significant investments in people and platform, and enhance our product and services capabilities while integrating our Global Markets and Investment Banking solutions for high-net-worth clients," said Mr. Raju.

Dr. Hitsch has about 25 years of experience in private banking, serving Chinese clients. Until recently, he was Head of North Asia at Citi Private Bank, where he spent over a dozen years building its offshore mainland China and Taiwan private banking business and overseeing the growth of the Hong Kong business. Prior to that, he spent another 12 years at Goldman Sachs Private Wealth Management in Hong Kong, where his last assignment was to lead a China team.

"I am very excited to join Nomura's International Wealth Management business when it's in growth mode, serving the global investment needs of Asia's entrepreneurs. The opportunity of our generation is the rise of Asia and I hope to replicate the successes I have had at my previous organizations building diverse teams, bringing in ultra-high-net-worth clients, and managing risks prudently,” said Dr. Hitsch.

Nomura has hired around 50 private bankers in its International Wealth Management business over the past two-and-a-half years as it focuses on its core markets of Greater China, South and Southeast Asia, and the Middle East.

Dr. Hitsch holds an MBA in finance from New York University and a bachelor of arts in Chinese from the Beijing Language and Culture University in China. He also has a doctorate in natural sciences from the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences in Austria. He is fluent in Mandarin.
