Nomura India in the Mumbai Marathon 2009, India's Largest Charity Run

On Sunday, 18 January 2009, 144 employees from Nomura India run the Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon 2009, as a part of the Firm's Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives in the country.

The Mumbai Marathon is one of the most significant philanthropic marathons, attracting international runners, celebrities and thousands of enthusiastic volunteers who come together to run and help raise funds for a variety of causes. This is the sixth year of this Marathon and it is currently India's largest annual charity event. Employees across our three offices at Powai, Ceejay House and BKC took part in the Marathon's Corporate Challenge.

Through the event, Nomura India supported its NGO (non-government organization) partner Magic Bus. Magic Bus is one of Mumbai's leading child-focused NGOs which supports a child's right to play and uses sport and outdoor challenges to stimulate personal and social development of underprivileged children. Our donation will be utilized to sustain and expand Magic Bus programmes for children across Mumbai.
