AEJ

In Asia ex Japan, our regional CSR Steering Committee, Corporate Citizenship team and network of CSR ambassadors drive Nomura's philanthropic and community engagement activities. Through these activities, our people play a critical role in our ability to make a meaningful and sustainable impact. Together we contribute to the communities where we operate and beyond to deliver a better tomorrow for future generations.

Corporate Grant Making

Our strategic focus is on ensuring the region's most vulnerable children receive the early learning and stimulation they need to thrive. We aim to break the cycle of poverty through quality early childhood (3-6 year olds) education and care that emphasizes the importance of play, responsive care giving and suitable environments to help nurture young bodies and minds.

Early childhood education and care capitalizes on a period of rich brain development for children, laying the foundation for their physical, emotional and intellectual wellbeing to achieve their full potential. Despite this, pre-primary is given relatively low priority in education policy and investment and, where it exists, tends to exclude marginalized groups.

Our key activities include the provision of multi-year grant funding and the facilitation of strategic initiatives which support our grant partners or the wider early childhood education and care sector to grow their impact. We value our employees input to this program, so provide opportunities for them to get involved at different stages of each grant we make.

Employee-Led Giving

In addition to our pillar cause, we also allocate funds to employee-led initiatives and programs that empower our people to support causes they care about. These include our:

  • CSR Grant Competition
  • Employee Donation Matching Program

We encourage all employees to give their time, experience and skills for the good of the community and, through our Volunteer Leave Policy, provide greater flexibility for them to engage in volunteering activities during office hours.
