Nomura Hires Lewis Alexander as US Chief Economist

New York, September 19, 2011 – Nomura, the global investment bank, is pleased to announce that it has hired Lewis Alexander as Managing Director and US Chief Economist.

Alexander was most recently at the US Treasury Department, where he was counselor to theSecretary of the Treasury. Previously he was chief economist with Citibank and earlier worked as a senior economist at the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve and at the US Department of Commerce.

Alexander will be based in New York, leading a team of five economists covering the US. His appointment underscores the importance of the region to Nomura's global business and its commitment to provide world class research to its clients. He will report jointly to Jens Nordvig, Head of Americas Fixed Income Research and Paul Sheard, Global Chief Economist.
