Nomura Announces Senior Hires in Australia

Sydney, December 11, 2007 – Nomura Australia Limited (NAL) today announced the appointment of Masaki Takayanagi as Director, Investment Banking and Fred Pucci as Director and Co-Head of Financing, Fixed Income. Both of them will report to Roy Nishikawa, Managing Director of Nomura Australia and John Keith, Deputy Managing Director of Nomura Australia. Mr. Takayanagi will also report to Minoru Shinohara, Head of Asia Investment Banking in Hong Kong and to Tsukasa Sato, Global Head of M&A in Tokyo.

Commenting on these appointments, Mr. Nishikawa said, "This represents a further broadening of services that Nomura can deliver to clients. Masaki and Fred both bring considerable experience in areas which Nomura is continuing to grow quickly—investment banking and structured finance. The appointments also tie in closely with the considerable focus that Nomura is giving the ongoing integration of capital and investment flows across Asia Pacific including Japan."

Mr. Keith said, "I am confident that both strategic hires will provide Nomura with further means to serve clients as they more actively pursue growth and financing opportunities across the region."

Masaki Takayanagi joins Nomura with an extensive investment banking career in Europe, management consulting, and an earlier industry career in telecoms in Japan and the UK. Fred Pucci brings considerable experience both as a banker and a lawyer, across capital markets, structured and corporate finance.
